Major/Essential Duties of Job
The Sustainable Transportation Program Assistant, under general supervision, provides program support for the day-to-day operations within Sustainable Transportation. This position will assist with monitoring and implementing micromobility standards on campus and fulfilling needs related to micromobility service and standards. Tasks include impounding and booting of unauthorized and/or errant micromobility devices, attending to appointments, and general upkeep of micromobility parking areas on main and west campus. Additionally, this position will participate in a collaborative manner with the office of Sustainable Transportation regarding any of the current and future sustainable transportation initiatives. Responsibilities: Micromobility Standards - Primarily responsible for assisting with monitoring and implementing micromobility standards on campus. Work would include identifying and posting of unauthorized micromobility vehicles, errantly parked micromobility, and general upkeep of micromobility parking areas. Sustainable Transportation Initiatives- Assists the Sustainable Transportation office with initiatives such as private and shared micromobility, bike counts, bike facilities improvements, car share, ride share, weekly and planned break intercity travel, pedestrian travel, demand response services, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and new services as developed. Serves a point of contact for program information and coordinates responses to requests for program information regarding initiatives and services pertaining to the Sustainable Transportation office. Encourages the use of Sustainable Transportation to customers, which includes the preparation of program correspondence. Customer Assistance- Assist with coordinating daily operational procedures to ensure the best customer experience, including bicycle booting, impounding, returning, etc. Performance of these duties requires the use of a university vehicle to travel in restricted access areas in a timely manner. Physical Requirements: Ability to ride a bicycle, electric bicycle, and/or cargo bike in the performance of job duties. Must be able to lift and/or move moderate to heavy weight objects. Other Requirements and Factors: Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Required to work occasional overtime, including weekends, holidays, and home football games if scheduled pending departmental needs. This position is security sensitive. This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures. Persons in this position will be required to drive state vehicle to travel to various parts of campus and are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc.
Occasional Duties
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience
1 year of experience working in the bicycle industry or field of sustainable transportation.
