Donations were delivered to Brazos Valley Food Bank
COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - For two weeks this month, Texas A&M Transportation Services offered a discount on parking tickets for those willing to give back.
This was their first ever Donations for Citations event.
Transportation Services knocked thirty dollars off what people owed in fines if they brought in either five personal items or ten food items to donate.
In total, the drive raised 1,132 pounds of donations for the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
"It was a tremendous showing of the Aggie Spirit. Even those that came in to reduce the amount of their citation owed brought beyond what was required and then we had people that had no citations that wanted to contribute," explained Debbie Hoffmann, Associate Director of Texas A&M University Transportation Services.
133 total citations were reduced during the two week event.
Texas A&M Transportation Services say they are already planning to hold another Donations for Citations event next year.
