The third annual TRI Aggieland Kids Triathlon is Sunday on the Texas A&M University campus.
The event starts at 7:30 a.m. with swimming in the Student Recreation Center. The triathlon includes a 1K and 2K runner's course, and a 2.5K bicycle course. The race will feature children from all over the state and a few from around the nation competing in separate age divisions. The awards will go to teams, as well as the top three boys and girls in each age division.
Transportation officials with the university are cautioning drivers about possible traffic delays in the area. Barricades for the running and bike trails will start going up about 11 p.m. Saturday and should be in place by 6 a.m. Sunday.
The course runs on the bicycle paths and sidewalks around the west side of campus and will impede traffic on John Kimbrough Boulevard and a portion of Olsen Boulevard. The barricades will be removed at the conclusion of the race.
The kids triathlon is presented by the University Pediatric Association. The TRI Aggieland Triathlon for adults is scheduled for July 14.
